El Diablo Run 2021 Part 1

El Diablo Run 2021 Part 1
We ran a feature recently on Biltwell's last wild El Diablo Run that took place in 2019, a biannual baja San Felipe run that's been going since 2006 and since it was now time again we saddled up and set a course back west for another EDR adventure. What we found was much like any experience in life, in 2 years a lot can change. The world was different and so were we, and even though the faces and the roads are familiar, you find yourself having a whole new set of experiences, some good, some bad, but always worth their weight in gold. If you've ever heard stories about the EDR well, they are all true and even though the destination is the same, everyone's journey there is quite different. Its all part of what makes it worth every second of unequivocal blissful agony it takes to reach that moment when you get to share the tales of your struggles with your fellow riders. Dipping your toes in the Sea of Cortez, clanking bottles of cold cerveza and locking arms in celebration of the moments that got you there. This weeks feature will bring things full circle to the 2021 run and those moments that came to pass.

    1948 EL Harley-Davidson Panhead

    1948 EL Harley-Davidson Panhead
When it comes to vintage choppers just about everything under the sun has been done, so it takes a true craftsman to take the inspiration from other builders and projects and make it truly their own. A machine that stands out and continues the line of inspiration for generations to come. Such is the case with the very unique 1948 Panhead built by Dan Haas. Dan has spent a lifetime collecting antique oddities and sharpening his skills in metalwork and fabrication and his build is like a perfect blending of his love for obscure antiquities and the dedication to his craft. We spent a weekend with Dan in beautiful Daytona Beach Florida for the 2021 bike week and had the chance to get up close and personal with his incredibly "one off" machine. Something that you absolutely can not walk past without doing a double take at all the intricate details and custom brackets and fabrication. So here is our chance to do that double take and get to know Dan a little better in this one on one interview.

    2021 One Moto Show

    2021 One Moto Show
With the pandemic shutting things down for the past year and some change, it’s nice to see things slowly getting back to normal. For us, normalcy is being surrounded by motorcycles and good people. Every year we look forward to getting out to events, checking out awesome motorcycles and talking with you the people. When the pandemic hit, all shows were halted and over the last few months we’ve seen many shows cancel and reschedule for 2022 due to Covid-19 restrictions in their states. When we caught wind that the One Moto Show was still a go out in Portland, this got us excited! In our eyes, this could be the start of shows + events coming back in the motorcycle world. Our pal Mark Adams just so happens to live out in Portland, and made sure to load us up with photos from this years One Moto Show.

Flashback: Biltwell El Diablo Run 2019

Flashback: Biltwell El Diablo Run 2019
As we currently venture through the bustling byways of America's famous Route 66 stretching from our Midwestern home base all the way to California on a course to meet up for this year's 2021 Biltwell El Diablo Run we wanted to take a look back at the 2019 EDR to appreciate all the good times. An adventure that we certainly didn't realize at the time we would appreciate so much before the world was changed forever by the events of the past year. The El Diablo Run has been held bi-annually since 2006 and fast became a rite of passage for many riders all across the entire United States converging on the city of Temecula, California where it begins. The run takes anyone brave enough on a trip through some beautiful California countryside and down into the barren desert terrain of the infamous highway 5 that stretches across Baja, Mexico. A place where many of the best stories of camaraderie on the run are born due to its lack of any service stations or support. Once you crack throttle down that road, theres no turning back. Its San Felipe or bust.....and truth be told many a brave souls have certainly gone bust,... but walked away with stories well worth their weight in pesos.
