Full Speed Ahead Show
A lot of motorcycle shows host pre-parties on the night before the show. While the Full Speed Ahead show is no different than most in that regard, where they do come out on top is in the choice of venue. Truth and his crew spend the day before the show prepping a battleship for the night's festivities. Yes, a battleship. Specifically, the USS Salem, which is docked at the United States Naval Shipbuilding Museum in Quincy, Massachusetts.
Just how do you party on a battleship, anyway? Well, at the rear of the ship, they had a few bars setup that were fully stocked with both beer and whiskey. And at the center of it all, a stage. Once the sun went down, the bands took the stage and the party got started.
Hanging out on the USS Salem, as the night passed, watching hardcore punk bands perform on the deck of a battleship was an experience that won't be forgotten.
Personally, being on stage and photographing while the headlining band, Murphy's Law, played one of the most entertaining shows I've seen, was a real highlight of the weekend.
The show itself took over the nearby Brockton Fairgrounds in Brockton, Massachusetts. As late morning approached, bikes and hotrods started rolling in. Vendors and food trucks lined the perimeter of the lot, leaving plenty of room in the center for everyone riding or driving into the show area.
The stage from the pre-party had been moved to the fairgrounds where more bands played throughout the day. Posted up on either side of the stage, a slew of show bikes and hot rods were placed under tents and on display for the day.
Of all the bikes at the show, the one everyone was talking about, was the 1978 Harley Davidson Shovelhead built by Choppahead. Not only was it a great looking bike, but this was the giveaway bike. Naturally, everyone had their eyes and minds on this one.
At the end of the day, Truth stood on stage and started calling raffle numbers for the bike. And one lucky guy quickly became the envy of everyone else at the show.
. . .
Many thanks to Truth, the Full Speed Ahead crew and all of the event sponsors for hosting such a great weekend of music, choppers, and hotrods.
